I know that this sounds really cliche, but you should go with whatever sounds the best and feels the best to you, no matter what hokey brand that may be.
The only way you can determine this is to hit every music store and try everything. Trust me...you'll be glad you did. Try thin neck, thick neck, different fretboard woods, etc....everyone's fingers are different.

What bass strings do you use? And have you ever considered using SH77 Rotosounds?

I only use Dean Markley Blue Steel strings, medium-light gauge. Any other strings either do not have the power...or they chew up my frets.
Rotosounds eh? I hear they are fret eaters....is that true? How is the power on them? Because of the age of my Rick, I need a lot of power to counter the decay in the pickup strength.

do you use a bass dorito pick or a normal guitar pick? what size?

Regular guitar pick. Dunlop Tortex 0.88 mm.
