A rare British entry into the DPP list, this film runs like a who's who of alien movies, borrowing from many icons of science fiction films. Good or bad? lets find out...

  • Gene Siskel's review of Xtro, which can be seen in the column of related video suggestions on this page, contains the eerily prophetic comment: "This film gave me a splitting headache...in fact, a lot of films lately have been giving me headaches...."

  • @tjhoenecke LOL...that's just wrong dude....so, so wrong

  • Fangs! Love your reviews. Have you thought about doing any on Peckinpah or Soavi?

  • Straw Dogs is one I have written about and has had an interesting censorship history. i may do something about it sometime.

  • You got me hooked on your videos, I've been watching them all day

  • Thank you. I'm glad you like them

  • I saw this movie somewhere between the age of 10 and 12. Despite the age recommendation on the box, it was no problem at all to rent horror films as a kid back then.

I didn't chose this movie myself though. I was more interested in lighter movies like child's play. But whenever I was sick, my dad would go out and pick up a movie. He chose Xtro... Having the flu and being young gave this movie an even more very haunting, nightmarish feel.

  • If you love weird, cheesy & unexplainable horror movies, then this ones for you. when I first saw this frankly I thought it was silly, from the part when he throws the ball on the roof & tells the dog to fetch it, to the weird & unusual telepathic manipulatio of a nutcracker that fires wooden ammo. But I now I guess I can appreciate it for it's "fondness"

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yes, it's sort of a cross between Alien, The Thing and E.T. and is still very shocking in certain scenes. I was 5 when i saw it for the first time on cable t.v. and it truly freaked me out.

  • @TheAltair4

I was 12 when i saw this and shocked me, the birthing scene is still shocking and this movie reminds me a bit of The Thing.

  • his sound like a great movie. I hope i can find this one some day.

  • Dude, you sound like the medal of honor frontline briefing guy!!!! That makes you awsome in all ways.

  • Fantastic Review - very surgical, precise and smacks of intelligence without having to "big note" itself. I'm a fan lampyman..well done

  • Interesting and informative review. I'll be seeking this out on DVD as well as watching the rest of your reviews.
