3D Laser Scan of the Kromdraai Gold Mine in the Cradle of Human Kind, Gauteng, South Africa
This was just a fun project in order to demonstrate the speed of the FARO Focus3D Laser Scanner and the new version of Scene software.
The Kromdraai Gold Mine was mentioned first in 1881 (but operation begun properly much earlier) and is the oldest officially registered Gold mine on the Witwatersrand in Gauteng. It is now a privately owned museum. This video shows the accessible part (about 150meters) of the mine.
25 scans from different positions where taken in less then 1hr 30min. Reference spheres (as seen on the floor) where used to reference the different scans. The total scan contains about 177million points.
FARO Scene, Pointools Edit Pro, VirtualDub and AnyVideoConverter where used to process the data and to create this video.

I don't get it, did you just take 25 frames and make software guess the frames in between? What are the "scans'
