My mom marched at Martin luther King rallies as a teenager. She's 57 now.
Tony Bennet was a big supporter of civil rights. He was demoted a rank from the army in WW2 because he ate lunch with a black soldier who was his best friend. This was when army was segregated, and his action aggravated some officer from the south. Tony met with Dr. King, and I think he marched as well in a rally.
And Frank Sinatra was a great friend to Sammy Davis Jr.
That's terrific! I'm really impressed that in the 1950's a big TV network like NBC hired an African American for his own TV show....I was born in 1980 and I wish I had been able to see Nat's show...what a legend...
