The fall of Nineveh shocked the ancient world. The Jewish prophet Nahum described the Median armies advancing to the city that had once ruled the Near East.
An attacker advances against you, Nineveh. [...]
The shields of his soldiers are red;
the warriors are clad in scarlet.
The metal on the chariots flashes
on the day they are made ready;
the spears of pine are brandished.
The chariots storm through the streets,
rushing back and forth through the squares.

We can never fully know what happened during the mesopotamian age. A lot of the civilizations in the past could have been far more advanced. I think that Egypt is an example of that. Sure they didn't have technology, but back at that time they were able to accomplish so much.

In about 3000 BC the people of Mesopotamia which includes Sumerians were using written language. The used cuneiform characters (wedge shaped) in clay. They used these as a pictograph writing. I'm confused as o how you're thinking that he Sumerians and Mesopotamia were around 4000 BC.

Cities back then were far more beautifull than modern cities we see today.
