http://www.ted.com Great design is a never-ending journey of discovery -- for which it helps to pack a healthy sense of humor. Sociologist and surfer-turned-designer David Carson walks through a gorgeous (and often quite funny) slide deck of his work and found images.
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. I don't think you're reading what I'm saying carefully. I'm not implying that our simulation techniques haven't improved, but rather, allowing for the fact that not everything can be simulated, and no new plane will be market worthy until it has REAL world flight data to back it up. This is where test pilots come in.

First time I see a commercial after a video and not at the beginning. That is so great.
If you want to see the commercial or not is up to you. that way you do not end up Hating the product or service advertised. Sorry 4 the off topic. BTW Carson is a MAESTRO!

A lot of you designers came from Art Center College of Design. Your instructors were assholes. I'm surprised if most designers can see fun in anything after going through an art school cult with militaristic mannerisms. Carson didn't go to art school, which proves most of design is about stroking people.

his designs look unattractive and not appealing-but that may be because it was 2003

In everything we do,we shouldn't take it seriously. It's nice if we could have some fun while doing the job or doing the work.

The advertiserz and teh ones in control of people magazine were basically making fun of the shit that went down on 9/11. Its plain to see, or were they rally not giving a fuck.Who knows but he was right and was obviously exposing some of that narrative.

This is as entertaining as it is informative. Now that's inspiring.
