So many sides to Max Wall - the walks, Wallofski; "Our shed" with "me and my dim brother". And "Oh, Aunty darling do let's have tea - tea with lashings of toast, simply oooozing with buttah". Certainly the dark side. And he could act - but what is comedy but acting? The finest "Krapp's Last Tape" I ever heard. Didn't the public turn against him when he left his wife for a young girl so his career lurched downhill; but no-one else seems to remember that. Wonderful - thank you collos

Max Wall had a face of infinite sadness, but like Dan Leno(another ledgendary clown), he had a smile that could light up the entire world.

I recall seeing the great Max Wall, many years ago(of course) in a small supermarket in Blackheath. He looked so very, very sad.

This man was a 1 off genius. Just indescribably and frighteningly brilliant, dark, tragic, human, courageous, and very lovable for it.
