MORE DETROIT AUTO SHOW ARTICLES:
http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightline/2009/01/2009-detroit-auto-show-2010-maz...

The saccharin-infused happiness on the 2010 Mazda 3's face makes us uncomfortable. Yet, when the car, in this case the 2010 Mazda 3 five-door hatchback, is parked next to an RX-8, it almost looks fine. Apparently, all Mazdas are super-smiley and we hadn't realized.

Of course, the Mazda 3 hatch looks even better from other angles. We're not sure we like the rising beltline that resembles the subcompact Mazda 2's, but the detailing on the tail looks great. So the 3 hatchback still looks better than the sedan. And as in the past, the hatchback comes standard with the larger of the U.S.-spec 3's two four-cylinder engines -- this time a 2.5-liter good for 167 hp. Nothing's changed really.

  • Well...Am I the only one who likes the new mazda? :D

  • The front end looks like a big, fugly happy face. If it had a different front end, I would consider buying this car. Sorry Mazda, but I'm still thinking VW as my next purchase.

  • I had a 2005 Mazda 3, then I had a 2007 mazda3, now I have a 2009 Mazda 3 hatchback. Yes, it's as good as it looks.

Comfortable, brilliantly equipped, classy lines, and it go's like spit off a griddle!

  • interesting, interesting.

  • I love it, I have it in pearl white with the sunroof/boes package. I just think te mpg kinda sucks for a 4 banger, not neary as well as my wifes mini cooper.

  • really? how do you like it? Im HEAVILY looking into it. Its cheap enough for me so thats why im considering it.

  • I own the 2010 5 door, it's sick

  • Oh great, luckily I see that Im not the only one...:)

But I prefer the 5-Door Mazda3, I do not really like hatchbacks :) But the HB looks also cool:)

  • the bluetooth wouldnt stay connected but we worked it out. just had to ensure there was a song on the nokias MP3 player for the car to recognise otherwise the connection gets rejected all together. bluetooth handfree and MP3 between car and mobile stays connected everytime now.

  • hehe nope i do too!

  • what is ur problem? mine has no problem
