Willie Green was born in Montgomery, Alabama in the 1930's. in a family of share croppers and migrant workers, he worked for many years in the farm fields of the south. He learned to play the harmonica and guitar as a teen playing in many of the original juke joints in the southeast. He moved to central Florida in the 1950's. Since 2002 he has opened shows for many great blues legends including JOHN HAMMOND JR. (who calls Willie "the real deal"), CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE, "HONEYBOY" EDWARDS, COCO MONTOYA, MARIA MULDAUR, TOMMY CASTRO, JOHN LEE HOOKER JR, EDDIE KIRKLAND, JJ GREY & MOFRO,JAMES COTTON, LOS LOBOS, RICK LEVY, AND PRE SHOW OPENER FOR ROBERT CRAY, DEREK TRUCKS & ERIC CLAPTON, AND MORE.
The interviewer is annoying. I would like to hear the man tell his stories, not listen to the interviewer's vision of what it must have been like.

Willie shouldn't even have a guitar in his hand. Take away the guitar and put the harp into his hands and no one can touch him. I know, I was there. Now over the years, I have tried to contact Willie, but his management never answered my emails. I suspect they wouldn't want his old band to show up! My next stop to Florida, I will have to go by and see Willie myself.
When I met Willie, he was living in the front room of a shot gun shack, bad on the alcohol. We put him back on the stage.
