Sir Pervez Musharraf will not be tried under article 6

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chief of opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif had assured King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia that he would not seek trial of former President Pervez Musharraf for high treason, Musharraf told local TV channel Sunday. About his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Musharraf told the private TV Express that Nawaz Sharif had assured King Abdullah of respecting the agreement not to call for his trial under the Article 6 of the constitution. He said Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is the chief justice of Supreme Court and he expects justice from him. Musharraf further said that the judges who supported him would also be treated under Article 6 if he was tried under the said article. On July 31, Pakistani Supreme Court ruled that Musharraf's decision to impose emergency rule and dismiss dozens of senior judges in 2007 was unconstitutional. Musharraf's rival and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been demanding the government put Musharraf on trial for suspending constitution and high treason. Nawaz Sharif Sunday called on Saudi Arabia King Shah Abdullah in Makkah to discuss the matters of mutual interest. PML-N leader Ishaq Dar told the private TV GEO News after the meeting that the Saudi King had not made any demands regarding Musharraf's trial. He said Saudi Arabia never interferes in the internal issues of Pakistan.
