@TheDBelanger New Paths To Helicon 1 is the longer name of Helicon 1 , people say Helicon 1 to either save time or just prefer that name.

@TheOtium Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky are both in many peoples ears the parents of Post-Rock. And as every fan of Post-Rock we know that none is better that they accept each other harmoniously, another band you may want to check out is God Is An Astronaut another amazing Post-Rock band, unfortunately in my ears they do not make the standards of eithe Mogwai or EITS. :)

no dislikes... only mogwai....

What a fuckin amazing version

I had the version recorded live at Rothsay Pavilion (on the "My Father My King" CD) and now I have heard this. The live version is a fine, fine track. This version here is incredible. For eight minutes and nine seconds I was taken somewhere beyond words. Beyond worlds even. Thank you Mogwai.

@CrispyMK if you are new to post rock you may be interested in my channel. the post rock project uploads loads of post rock material including the "bigger" names such as Mogwai as well as smaller you tube based bands. :)

I was introduced to this band today by a very good friend of mine. I can't get over how beautiful this song is. Simply stunning, such a sad sounding song yet at the same time, so life assuring. I think I've got a beautiful journey with Mogwai coming soon. How you that know them must envy me, I'm about to discover what you've known all this time in this band.

People keep posting that this song is from the Government Commissions album...and while there is a live version of this song on that album, it was released prior to that on a 1997 studio album called 'Ten Rapid' and before that on a double A-sided single.

This version was released as a promo inbetween CODY and Government Commissions.
This is my favourite recording of the piece.
(You are correct).
