A teaser for the feature-length biopic "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin." Five years in the making and the winner of more than 20 awards, "Brother Outsider" illuminates the life and work of Bayard Rustin, a visionary activist and strategist who has been called "the unknown hero" of the civil rights movement. A tireless crusader for justice, a disciple of Gandhi, a mentor to Martin Luther King Jr., and the architect of the legendary March on Washington, Rustin dared to live as an openly gay man during the fiercely homophobic 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. "Brother Outsider" reveals the price that Rustin paid for this openness, chronicling both the triumphs and setbacks of his remarkable 60-year career. Bayard Rustin was born in 1912 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Not only was he an integral part of the African-American civil rights movement, but became one of the leading advocates and examples for gay equality. Bayard Rustin’s career captured the attention of Dr. Martin Luther King, who recruited Rustin as advisor and colleague in 1956. Rustin organized the 1963 March on Washington, where Dr. King gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

BRILLIANT! I'm glad that someone out there is finally telling the real story by giving Mr. Rustin his rightful due. His role, or more precisely like his revolutionary mindset and ideas were a crucial part of the civil rights movement. Sadly, his sexuality forced him into the background instead of the foreground where he belonged.
One Love.
