This is the fastest 50mm lens in production, but the Noctilux has been around for a long time, and so has the cult-like following for this lens. But what is the new version like? Has it lost any of the charm of the f/1.0? Watch the review to see if this really could be considered one of the best 50mm lenses.

  • @thedevo01 Because it's hand built in Germany and because you don't need all the techno crap to take a good photo. Leica is all about simplicity and not having tons of buttons and menus to get in the way.

If you can't get good pics with aperture priority and a 50mm lens you just aren't a very good photographer and no amount of gadgets and fancy super wide/ super telephoto lenses is going to change that.

  • @Nobasic53 I just want the girl in the red dress.

  • @bicycleghost41 don't know about the UK, but in the Netherlands there is something called "portrait right", it allows you to demand to be made unrecognizable on any image carrying media if you say so.

  • As an emerging photo enthusiast, my eye can't detect a noticeable difference between this lens and let's say...another 1.2/1.4, or even an 1.8 lens. That price is just insane and I think I'll just consider a 1.8/50mm :D

  • @bicycleghost41 I don't know... I always feel kind of invasive when shooting random people on the street... Perhaps I am just coy.

  • aaa .... how did i get here

  • @andreipetunin Not in my experience... you just have to be discreet about it - maybe not point the camera directly at the subject, and use a small lens/camera combo. Also, if people do stop you and tell you to delete a photo of them, they're legally not allowed to ask you to do that, and you could even do them for harassment or coercion! Try googling Photographers' Rights UK :)

  • @andreipetunin Is street photography something you've never come across?

  • neck strap, of course lol

  • this is bullshit!!!! that lens and camera combo comes nowhere close to what the 5d can do...
