This song was originally sung by the legendary fado singer Amalia Rodrigues in the 1980's. I believe it was from her last album. This was also the first I saw of Vânia last year. Seeing/hearing her do justice to this tune just warmed my heart.

For all her considerable abilities on singing pop and jazz tunes, it seems that Vania's biggest strength lies in singing the songs of her land. I don'r know that much about Portuguese music (I guess this is a fado song, but I could be wrong), but her performance here is absolutely enchanting (check out also her equally lovely performance of "Alfama" from the same concert). Bravo!
