What about "barley"? I've seen those Gerber Infant Cereals with Barley. Have you tried it?.

I haven't tried that, but I'm sure it would work!

    Hi there,

I tried to make this using the Cuisinart Mini Prep Food Processor you recommend on your blog but never got the consistency you talk about. I got two types of products from the mixer, a very fine powder and small rice pearls. I had to blend for a long time and drain the powder out of the rice and keep going. The pearls of rice I have left are the size of couscous... I'm not sure if the food processor is powerful enough. I see you are using a much bigger blender here. Any suggestions?

Hmmm interesting. The blender in this video is a VitaMix and it is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it!

video is not very explicit. did not mention whether rice was cooked or uncooked. nor how to prepare it after blending it. the whole point of a video is to see a step by step process, this seems to leave out a lot.

The cereal that you buy in the grocery store is fortified with bioavailable absorbable iron that children need in the early stages of life. Plain brown rice has a negligable amount of iron and is not recommended for infants and toddlers.

I heard the same thing, i hear all rice has it, but that its best to go organic and i read that rinsing it gets rid of like 50% of it and cooking it with extra water gets rid of another 30%.

Do you have to boil it with water? I'm buying the rice cereal boxes at the store all I do is add his milk to it and heat it up on the microwave. I figured I could just do the same if I make my own powder rice formula
