This song is dedicated to my late great grandmother who died in the arms of her family last week.
I stood witness to the inspiring battle she held within herself - a battle against the inevitable. She, not once, never gave up. Until the end, she fought - but you cannot evade the inevitable.
The song itself is composed so each beat lands on a tick of the clock, which represents the feeling we all felt - standing by her side doing all that we could; wait. Painfully.
Also, as the song draws to a close, turn your speakers up and listen. Listen to the beauty of the decaying harmonics of the piano - and try to guess what it represents.
This song has a lot of hidden meanings, lots of little tricks.
Text in the video:
"Softly as the shadows fall and gently comes the final call, tenderly the winds will whisper; "goodbye."
Brightly the stars will shine, majestically the moon will climb, silently shed my tears as I sadly say; 'Adieu, my dear.'"
Written by D E "Nanna" Eslick - My great grandmother.
Strong, determined, artistic and inspirational. You fought gallantly until the end. You didn't want to go, and it showed. Through the pain you never gave up - but the curtains have closed now, we left here on the ground will forever miss you. Wednesday, September 14, 2011, 8:27pm - 95 years old.
RIP.
