With the assassination of Benazir Bhutto at the end of 2007, an already turbulent country in the front lines of many of the international community's most pressing concerns—terrorism, nuclear weapons, development, and democracy—was thrown into even greater political turmoil. Parliamentary elections have been rescheduled to February 18, but will elections signify democratic change? And what are the stakes for the international community? The Century Foundation hosted a luncheon roundtable to consider such issues under the rubric of Elections vs. Democracy: Post-Bhutto Pakistan and the International Community, co-sponsored by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. Leading the discussion was Imran Khan, the World Cup cricketer turned political activist and opponent of military rule in Pakistan. Mr. Khan is now chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Justice Movement), a new political grouping that sees elections under the military regime as inherently flawed, and was placed under detention during last month's emergency rule. Commentator was Ali Ahsan, associate officer in the executive office of the U.N. Secretary-General.

On blaming a lawyer for destroying the process of justice in Pakistan by finding loopholes & using justice delaying tactics he said Loopholes are there in Pakistans Constitution. When any law or amendment is passed & finalized it contains loopholes & they are created to enable the corrupt class rule us in all departments. Result is before us. Pakistan still after 62yrs stands in the undeveloped, poor & corrupt nations. Can the Chief Justice of Pakistan manage to remove these loopholes.?

Since the day Pakistan came into being justice is just a dream for a common man. A judge is not allowed to officiate in any specific city court for more than a few months. Similarly a police officer officiating at district level like SSP is not allowed to work for a month or 2 at the seat and these actions encourage outlaws as well as violation of law here. The officiating govt is not interested in implementing the law. It's just desirous of its corruption to be unexposed in this way.
