Leiber is one of our finest fantasists. I'm shocked to find no videos of him here.

  • I have been a fan of Fritz Leiber's since I was a child. Have you seen very many of the films he was in? He did a guest star appearence on one episode of the television series 'Kung Fu'. I have read, and re-read the 'Fafhrd and the Gray mouser' books, it would be so cool to see all of them made into movies, or at least one big movie. Its great to meet another fan!

  • @Grey9man He was such an excellent writer and had such a keen mind. I think the only film I've seen himin was Equinox. Was he in many films? His father, of course, was a well-known Shakespearean actor, and I believe that H. P. Lovecraft actually saw his father in some Shakespeare production.

  • he sounds like a remarkable writer i will have to look him up thank you for bringing him to my attention.think your make-up is brillant always brings a smile to my face.thanks again good sir.

  • @MrKARSEERUS Thank you for your lovely comment. I like having a lot of weird fun with my videos, but I am dead serious when it comes to writing and writers.

  • Your pronunciation of Leiber (with a long 'I' instead of a long 'E') is correct. I have a couple of his Lanhkmar books in audio format, and this is how his name is pronounced on those, as well as various other sources I have heard over the years. Thanks for highlighting his work with this video!

  • @psmangus Thank you for this. I find it curious that no one has posted interviews with him from sf conventions, &c. He was a fine gentleman.

  • @MrWilum Anyhow, I would imagine you could google his name and find out all of the film and television shows he has been in. I'm thinking of doing that too. Another series you might be interested in is the "Sword of Bheleu' seris by Lawerence Watt-Evans, There are about four books in it, maybe more now, they are kind of like a Cross between, Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, and He-Man. Good reading. Thanks for your reply, and take care my friend.

  • @MrWilum Fritz was in quite a few different films, mainly as supporting cast, and he did numerous television appearences. I remember reading the 'Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser' comic books when I was a kid in the 1960's, but it seems to me they spelled it 'Grey Mouser' instead of Gray, I could be wrong, memory sometimes plays tricks. That is why my handle is 'Grey9man', after the Grey / Gray mouser. I tried to get that handle but it was already taken.

  • Fritz leiber is brilliant I highly recommend his books regarding fafherd and the grey mouser amazingly skilled author. I think it is pronounced lie-ber. Because in the German language ie is pronounced e whereas ei is i

  • @MrWilum your the master of both my friend.looking forward to your next vid.good morrow sir.

  • Hey Puggs! I have that book too. Like the guy below me, I believe LIEber is the correct pronunciation. That's so awesome that you wrote to him! He is DEFINATELY one of my favorite authors. I love The Big Time, The Dealings of Daniel Kesserich, Conjure Wife and so many of his short stories. (Not so big on Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stuff though.) That book has got to be the coolest thing you own. Which of his collections is your favorite?
