Velo boots that same time with GUI. Without GUI it can be up and running in about 3 seconds. Record is 2.4 seconds.

it uninstalls same way as installs... click uninstall icon :)  easy

i disagree with xandros 100% you should not have to pay for linux. but 19.00 aint bad.

Thanks for demo-- Looks nice- One question though, How do you upgrade different applications (e g firefox or skype) ? Do you need to uninstall or re-install them again from App Store? if this is the case, all the personal setting will disappear

On what computer? softpedia (reliable) had a computer ext4 filesystem which is better than jaunty's ext3 default system and it booted in 21.4 seconds...

Actually, Ubuntu Jaunty boots in about 10 seconds.

Actually, I switched to Ubuntu when I discovered a hardware bug in Xandros 4 which made my laptop think it was running 1/10th of the CPU's actual speed...the same thing happened on my desktop.

Okay I just tested out Presto myself, and yes it boots up fast and shuts down fast. Of course the first boot up takes a little longer, but after that boot time on my laptop - from choosing Presto on the bootup screen to having the desktop fully loaded - is about 8 seconds, and shutdown is about the same. And MP3s play out of the box in RealPlayer 11. For those who wanna just surf the web and watch YouTube videos and listen to MP3, this is actually a pretty decent OS.

Xandros Presto looks like it uses XFCE as the desktop environment...the file manager looked like Thunar. Sort of like "Xandros Meets Xubuntu Meets Wubi", since Presto installs sort of like Wubi.

its made to boot old pcs fast

if you dont have an old pc then dont use it
