Hand feeding the tarpon at Robbies Marina in Islamorada of the Florida Keys. The tarpon appear at Robbies by the hundreds and hang around the marina docks waiting for Florida visitors to toss them some dead fish snacks.

You can also elect to hang your baitfish over the dock while waiting for the tarpon to come up and take it right out of your hand. This is the route I chose to go. The video shows a bunch of tarpon in slow motion crashing the surface to take the bait right out of my hand.

I've wanted to visit Robbies for years and during this vacation to the Florida Keys I finally got my chance to feed these beautiful tarpon. My hand got a little scraped up from the tarpon's bony mouths but that was fine. This was a great time.

We spent quite a few hours and went through 5 buckets of bait for the tarpon and jacks that were hovering for their handouts. We then had a nice lunch in the outdoor dining area of the restaurant also on the marina grounds.

If you are in the Florida Keys I'd suggest you stop by and say hello to the Islamorada tarpon at Robbies Marina

  • are you allowed to fish there?

  • @MrImtheman1998 I don't believe you are allowed to fish IN the marina itself, would kind of be like cheating :-) But there were boats hanging around not too far outside the area probably hoping for strays :-) :-)

  • enjoying your videos, went to Robbies last March , hoping to be back in April

  • @51billyt what a great place, I waited a long time to get there and hope it doesn't take so long till my next visit :-) Thanks for stopping by :-)
