FundEducationNow.org was started a little over a year ago because of the threatened educational budget cuts in Florida. FEN started locally, but quickly became the central organizing group for the entire state. Last Spring the crisis was only averted by the legislature plugging their budget holes with Federal stimulus money.
Although it started in reaction to the proposed cuts, FEN is now a permanent, non-partisan group of parents, teachers, and concerned citizens, working together to inspire and advocate for Florida's children.
These things are clear:
•Last year would have been a bloodbath if we parents had not stood firm and expressed ourselves.
•There is absolutely no plan for what happens after the Federal stimulus money runs out.
•The only thing that will make a difference this year and going forward is a massive, coordinated public outcry from parents and teachers who vote.
This video is the kickoff to what will be an even bigger fight this budget year. We encourage you to share this with others who might not yet understand the urgency of letting our elected officials know where we stand.
Share this on your Facebook page, email the link to others, and most importantly, ACT! Our Legislators WILL cut funding to education if they do not hear from us on a massive scale.

I'm so proud of what we as mothers can accomplish when we work together. Though my daughter is homeschooled, I am passionate about our educational system and its failings because not all children are as fortunate as mine. I will spread the word and I pledge my full support. Our children deserve so much more than they're getting. Florida should be ashamed, but what angers me more is our elected leaders choosing to turn a blind eye.

Damn right there's another way to close the gap.
Oregon just did it. They (slightly) ratched-up the corporate tax rate, but ALSO (slightly) raised income taxes on the upper 2% of families.
