Honestly John Stewart did not have a bad idea it most likely would not have worked but it still was a good idea considering America did have 3 A-Bombs at the time according to the official story. It was not a bad suggestion the problem was Truman didn't find out about the Manhattan project until after FDR died so it was an impossible choice. As Americans we will always be known as the only Nation to use the Bomb on our enemies twice and hopefully it will stay that way

Part V - What we modern westerners seem to forget is that we bleed as red as our enemies. The harsh reality really boils down to recognizing that the enemy is just that the enemy. The USA forgave Japan, invested in Japan and helped Japan become the powerful democracy that it is today. Would Imperial Japan have given its conquered nations that kind of treatment? Ask any Korean (or a multitude of other countries) what it was like to be occupied by Imperial Japan.

Part IV - German Civilian deaths are estimated at approx. 1.5 million. Of the 65 Million killed, do you really believe that the Allies were responsible for the bulk proportion of civilian deaths? If you do then you have a warped sense of history. The Japanese people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were killed in a time of war, when their government and their armies had unleashed a savage, murderous and devastating plague of death and destruction on the world.

Part II - How many innocent civilians did the Japanese kill during WWII? For example, Imperial Japan was responsible for the killing of approx. 16 to 20 Million Chinese civilians before and during World War II. The Germans were responsible for killing approx. 20 million Russian Civilians. All in all, there are estimates that 65 million civilians were killed as a result of World War II. Japans civilian losses were estimated at approx. 600,000 civilians killed.

Part II - While I agree that the decision to drop the bomb on so many Japanese people is terrible, we seem to forget that Japan was a fierce and lethal enemy of the Allies.
At the time the Allies were also very busy fighting against Hitler as well. We seem to always pretend that we somehow must be held to some kind of higher standard than everyone else in the world arrogantly naïve of the consequences. Consider what Imperial Japan would have done with a nuclear weapon? How about Hitler?

Part I
It is easy for people today to judge on whether Truman made an immoral decision. Our modern media and our left leaning population in the west seem to examine everything from a very narrow perspective. We seem neurotic and guilt ridden in self examination and weak-kneed self-deprecation. It is like shining a flashlight in the dark at a wall full of writing and then deciding that the words in the beam are the whole story.

They were not innocent. They were at war with us; they wanted to kill us. If the people of a country cannot control their government, then they will suffer the consequence.
