PS2 Underrated Gem: Gungrave

This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.


This is another one that won't be for everyone.

Gungrave keeps it simple. shoot s***, and repeat. That pretty much sums up the entire game. Many gamers will find it to be extremely repetitive, but I really enjoy the game. It keeps it simple, and that's what I like about it. It's just a stylish, and mindless shooter, and there's nothing wrong with that so long as you take it for what it is.

There is some story to be had as well, but the game is, for the most part, all about the action.


Gungrave is only available on the PS2.

I love the anime...I've heard the game is too short,that's why I didn't buy it.Is it true?

@9Y0 It did come out at a $20 price point though, so for the cheap price you can get it for now, it's still worth it even if it is short.

@wow3214 I just looked it up on Gamefaqs, and yes, it appears to have been released in Europe and so was it's sequel.

i like this game ! =D its just like u put vash the stampede and solbadguy in once to create one of the most badass game in the world . if its repetitive then i can life with that . =) i like kind of badass-shoots/slash/punchs-bad guys-to heaven /hell / dreamland-games. hey teh2Dgamer ! are there some ps1 games that have this badass-style ,that i wrote in the comment ? =/

@bombermanp978 Not popular=underrated. Now, before you try to argue, think of it like this. When I say I think Greenday is one of the most overrated bands of all time, am I talking about some critic somewhere rating the band? No, I'm talking about all the hype and attention. When I say another band is completely underrated, am I again talking about some supposed review scores? No. It has to to with the amount of attention they get. Hence underrated=overlooked.

@MrRenevelez I know the anime spawned from the game. And still I think it's cool looking mafia anime with weird twists (undead shooters and all).

Also, I have the games you've mentioned (yup original copy of DMC1) so I fully now what's good and what's not. I like length in games.

I call this gen the DLC gen. Hardly you can find a good game not butchered into pieces.

@9Y0 Is it true? yes...but the fact that this is one of the reasons I still have a PS2 is worth it, this game like Max Payne or Devil May Cry are the reasons of why PS2 remains the best console of the last gen, but thats my opinion
