agreed. I saw this movie for the first time last year. I was too young to see it when it came out. It really effected me. Movies that leave you with a lot of feeling. I was mezmerized by the last scenes and the music. Daring role for Hoffman

The original version as heard in the film (note the absence of strings in the score except for one sequence). Please, please, please can they issue the original film session recordings before I die. Barry's greatest work, and the one he was most proud off in later life.

Boy, what a sad ending this film had. I almost shed a tear but my friend was watching with me and I was like "gotta play it off cooooool"

both written by john barry...he's allowed to nick his own melodies...
you can take the intro to you only live twice and meld that with the melody from midnight cowboy...it works beautifully on piano...
the ladies love it when i play it for them....

it is not how God meant us to live...it is very crowded, it is very noisy...it can be very lonely...alone in a sea of humanity...
give me farm country...clean air..blue skies...the smell of freshly cut grass...a horse driven hay ride...candy apples in fall
our immune systems weren't meant for day to day new york city living
trust me....i know
Happy New Year!!

Wow -- I love both those themes. They are mesmerizing. Thanks for posting that info I would have never known. Great music writers.

@ChiroQuacker
Those are two of my all time favorite original movie themes. In fact, for years I have had you only live twice on my mp3 player. I loved the theme from Midnight Cowboy, but never heard the movie version with that fabulous harmonica. I had to upload it. It made the ending scene. To keep it going I looped it, unfortunately did not do a great job of it!
thanks for watching.

In 1969 I started an after school job as a "trolly boy" at the Hoyts Skyline Drive-in Theatre at Coopers Plains, Brisbane, Australia.
We pushed a trolly loaded with softdrinks, chips and chocolates around the rows of cars and sold the goodies while the movie was running. (there are many stories I can tell!)
"Midnight Cowboy" was running the week I did my first shifts so I can say that I've seen it a couple of times.....what an impact on a 14 year old boy!
I loved the music .
Thanks.

@stondad Wow I'll bet you have some great tales doing that job! And to see a film as great as Midnight Cowboy, and probably a few others. I think kids at that age who get exposure to art and film and books about the human condition get the best education and grow up smarter. thanks for watching

New York looks like a hard place to live.

@TheGodParticle Wow you're not kidding. Being homeless there looks horrible. Being homeless anywhere. Sad what is happening today.
