@monsterrravingloony I wonder about the difficulty of building a safe boiler, I ordered the catechism of steam hoping to learn the many do's and dont's of boiler design, the last thing I want is to be killed ny my own boiler.

Why thank you sir. Most kind.
Have you seen my other video of my 4 cylinder steam engine being made? Should have it running soon. Check it out...

Hello! Lovely engine; a wonderful piece of craftsmanship.
I have a couple of questions, as I will be constructing one of my own sometimes soon; what did you use to construct the cylinders, and do you have any plans for the Stephenson link (or whatever reversing gear you're using) you've used on your engine? And also, how did you fabricate the eccentrics?

Cheers...
The piston and cylinder is from a renault 5 turbo as it has removable liners. I cut the piston down to about 2 inches to maximise stroke. Piston rod is silver steel with thread cut on end, screws into piston with locknut and head housed to accomodate nut.
Google 'build steam engine without lathe' for reversing link etc. jp7
Eccentrics were cut square, bolted together, corners cut off then held bolt in pillar drill. I used a grinder, then file, then oil stone. Hope this helps.

what are you using for a fly wheel? thats very cool!

Hi there.
The flywheel is a rear wheel from a 1977 Kawasaki Z250. The piston and cylinder are from a Renault 5 turbo (has removable liners...) andI build the rest myself.
Cheers...
