The douchebags of history co-opted organized religion to build their totalitarian regimes. Hitler did it; Stalin did it; Pol Pot did it; Mao did it. BTW, the original kool-aid drinkers were christians. Jim Jones was an atheist that suckered people in w/ religious dogma.

@FlyingFree333 I'm an atheist but those polls have always intrigued me. I think one reason that there's so few "outspoken" atheists in prison is that very few see themselves as atheists, in part because they're afraid of what others might think of them. But since those polls are anonymous it shouldnt be like that hmm..

exept when people commit genocide, fly planes into buildings, blow shit up, prevent scientific advances, scare children into beleiving in things without evidence or let people live their lives in fear...

Religion is pretty harmless... it's the people that do bad things and do it because their religion inspired their actions. It's like violent video games, I play them, but I don't imitate them. Because video games are harmless as well.

thats a horrible analogy. video games do not have a superior being telling you how to live and who to like or hate. Christianity teaches you to hate homosexuals and people of other religions.
