How many times have you heard the words 'Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize'? Those three words which were conjured up somewhere probably on Madison Ave. have sold billions of dollars of cosmetics in an attempt to make people fuel and look better. Really though the concept that are skin should be treated, especially our facial skin, should be treated very gently and that its fragile and delicate, is not exactly true. If you think about it the things that we do in cosmetic surgery, whether they're very tepid things that do not dramatize the skin very much or whether there very substantial traumas such as serious chemical peels or CO2 laser, no matter what they are they make the skin in general look better and so whether or not a minor trauma is done on a repetitive basis or a more substantial procedures done which more fully strips the skin and induces more inflammation, in a sense it's a paradox to what we've been taught and conditioned to believe all these years. Anything that strips the dead skin layers, anything that heats up the underlining layers of the skin, anything in a word that within reason dramatizes the skin induces the skin to turn over quicker in which case it renews itself faster. At the same time if the bottom of the skin, the second layer of the skin (the dermis), is heated out or is inflamed, collagen and is created. Benson Dermatology - Ponchatoula, LA Louisiana
