World class chef Ted Reader shows how to ice BBQ ribs fresh out of his smoker at his sold out food demo in Ottawa Ontario. He proceeds to "ice" , yes ! I said ice the ribs with Betty Crocker icing. He then puts on a mixture of crushed potato chips, Panko bread crumbs onto the icing. The ribs are then put back into the BBQ portion of his huge rig which is parked outside, until there is a gorgeous brown crust on the ribs.
Think Ted is nuts doing this ? ... think again ! the crowd of eager onlookers quickly devoured the ribs, which were heavenly. I never thought that such a strange mix of ingredients could marry so well, but they JUST-DO ! Amazing how the heat from Ted's BBQ changes the chemistry of the toppings and changes them into something magical. I closed my eyes, and could not tell I was eating Betty Crocker icing at all, the flavours / flavors change, and meld into something just delightful.
Ted Reader is celebrity chef, who has numerous cook books to his credit, as well as having his own TV show "King Of The Q" . Ted has two brand new BBQ cookbooks coming out next year as well as a brand new TV series slated for 2012 !
