@wawawana1 He WAS doing a monologue. The plot with Scott, his father, and Bob is based directly off of Henry IV. Bob is Falstaff, and Keanu's character is Prince Hal. If you look closely in the film, they are drinking Falstaff beer, too. Anyway, that's why much of Keanu and Bob's dialogue sounds like that. They are actually reciting monolgues in the classic sense.

LOL!!!! This is so weird, I love it!
Actually I thought Keanu was really great in this. There are a lot of subtle facial expressions he uses. Scott was a complicated character - a manipulative, sexy, lost, hurting young man, and Keanu portrayed this to a T. I loved him in this flick.
