BBC takes us on an adventure with clips & commentary about Judy. I don't know if any documentary can begin to capture the expanse of her life & the contribution she made to entertainment. This is like peeking through a keyhole ... but the view is interesting with great clips & commentary from some rarely heard voices. Lauren Bacall, Artie Shaw, Gerald Clarke, Dirk Bogarde, Janet Leigh, Liza Minnelli, Mickey Rooney ... & Sid Luft. In particular, some very touching stories from Tony Bennett.
I personally take exception to some of the comments & interpretations, ... there are some inaccuracies ... but there is beauty here ... & wonderful clips/photos of Judy.
Gerald Clarke's book, GET HAPPY: THE LIFE OF JUDY GARLAND, will be the source of an upcoming biopic starring Anne Hathaway. From what I can tell, this documentary is also baseing some information on that same book ... & Gerald Clarke is a commentator.
Please comment. Maybe we can start a conversation here that the producers of the movie - Weinstein - will see ... I think it's important for our voice to be heard.

  • they were crying? I AM CRYING :'(

  • thumbs up if you're wondering if it's you or that speaker talks very badly

  • The musical movie clips are played too fast in this documentary. Why is that?!

  • I has a really bad speak problem.

  • Vincente might have been bisexual to a point where maybe he was just trying it out, and Judy happened to find him.

  • even when judy was in her darkest hour, she never lost her voice and she never that song 'over the rainbow' that was her song

  • Vincent wasn't gay. Liza and Lorna have both stated this.. multiple times.

  • she couldn't have had an affair with yul brynner, b/c brynner never came out to hollywood until the king and i in 1956..... this biography of her has so many cracks in it.......i have watched a lot of garland biographies/documentaries and this 1 has a lot of cracks in it......also her suicide attempt was b/c of her being fired from mgm for good,i have never heard that judy walked in on minnelli w/ another man even though by then she must've known he was gay.

  • I had the pleasure of going to the Judy Garland Festival in late june of 1997 met Sid and Lorna &Joe. All were very nice esp Sid. I had the pleasure of talking to him one evening and It was so surreal that here I was having drinks with Sid Luft and talking about Judy. It almost felt that Judy was there. Talk about Goosebumps! I also went to London in late dec 2000/early Jan 2001 and went to the flat where Judy Passed away and that had such a weird presence. 4 Codogan Lane.

  • When was this doc made? Thanks for posting it.
