Hi, FYI-- I couldn't see what your were doing in Drive A, but first of all, the disc you insert must have CP/M v. 2.2 on it (ie, must be a bootable disk).. Then after you insert a bootable disk, just closing the drive door should make the computer read the disc and boot. If not, try running a wet-type 5.25" drive cleaner disk through for a minute or two, then try again. if still nothing, the drive may need to be aligned, or the disk drive controller chip (#1793) may be defective. Good luck!

The Kaypro II had SSDD floppy drives. That is 191k. You could make a floppy disk a "flippy" by notching the other side. Then you could get 191k per side. . Also, you can't just "boot" on any diskette. It needs to have the OS on it (think of old MS Dos days when you had to format with /s to make it bootable).

Hey. A lot of times the microchips oxidize over time and it doesn't work any more without reseating them I have my Dad's 2x from 85. Unfortunately, the drives are going on it.

That doesn't seem to be a problem here in the southwest - at least, I've never seen it.

Sorry man. It wasn't intentional.
It made me laugh listening to it again - I didn't realize it was such a shock.
