This clip contains footage from tonight's Channel Seven 6pm News. It shows the Yarra Park Association protesting against the MCG and AFL inappropriately using the Yarra Park parklands as overflow parking during AFL matches. It is worth noting that Channel Seven does not identify one of the speakers as Melbourne City Councillor (Greens) Cathy Oke.
The editing on Mr Dow's quote is quite dramatic, but not surprising, considering the number of AFL related enterprises Channel Seven is involved in.
The MCG was moved to its current location for the construction of Australia's first steam railway in 1854. It is ironic then that inadequate public transport is contributing to the need to park cars on site.
If it's too far to walk, perhaps they should move matches to the Punt Rd oval? Or run a free shuttle for the infirm?
