  • Where is Caliente? Is it in California?

  • It's in California, between Bakersfield and Tehachapi on the UP line over the Tehachapi mountains

  • Another one to add to SP action

Did this train have mid train helpers?

  • Don't know. Could have with the way it was accelerating

  • In Trainz 12 The Engine Sounds on the SP SD45 are exactly the same as this! and it come with a highly detailed route from Bakersfield to Mojave. In the southern pacific / ATSF Era.

  • Love that Mars light.

  • Is this the PFE reefer block?

  • Love to hear them put pedel to the metal! Great video. Totally dramatic.

  • @cz17west UP line. Right! Only because they bought it. They never did anything close to accomplishing it.

  • GREAT sound quality .....

  • What great memories with my dad! We chased SP and Santa Fe freight over the mountains to the Loop! We used to park hear and watch 'em climbing hard up the grades. The Mars light, the rumble, the diesel, the smoke, the grit, the horns!!!

I do miss seeing the Southern Pacific in action. At least I can re-live it in some small way with my N-scale SP trains! :)

    Life is good! :)

  • filthy, grimey SP engines w/the old typeset "southern pacific" on the side-with an occasional "cotton belt" loco in the same lineup ....YEAH!!!

  • One person doesn't have a soul!

  • Great video! Were those SD 45's locomotives? They sure sound like it! I remember those old grey and red SP's!
