Paul Kim, a conducting student at the University of Maryland, arranged a montage of Dave Matthews songs for string quintet and violin soloist. I (Matthew Detrick) played the solo violin part, Paul Kim and Karu Suzuki played the violin parts, Ellen Gartner was the violist, Patty Garvey was the cellist, and Maurice Belle was the bassist. It's a sweet arrangement and was lots of fun to put together and perform. We performed it at the National Orchestral Institute this past summer.

  • Oh my gosh, that made me cry it's so beautiful. Wow.

  • You sir are very talented. I am a huge Dave Matthews Band fan myself. You do great work. Please keep it up. I think you should send a copy to Dave.

  • that is so sick!!!! i play guitar along with many insturments and im in a strings ensemble and if you have the sheet music for bass violin cello and viola i would buy it

    !!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • I wil BUY this sheet music from you. Please name your price

  • Amazing!

  • Great... the 3 clips are wonderful... Congratulations... Dave himself should listen to you...

  • You left my mouth without words. Amazing, mindblowing, incredible job.

If there is a question, let it be this one: why would you choose precisely that DMB repertoire? I like those "old-school" DMB songs, as some people called them, as much as I like the rest of the band's work. In particular I am a very particular fan of Before These Crowded Streets (whose songs wouldn't have quite fit in this arrangement, I think). Beyond that, I am absolutely blown away, Paul. Congratulations!

  • Beautiful, Paul! I have fond memories of you and your music from Brevard.
