This is a Edgestar 43Quart portable camping refrigerator, this can freeze ice cubes when it 110 degrees outside. i designed a slide for it and a new outlet, and voltage meter. the refer has a strap to keep it in it's place and can hold food at temp for as long as there is sun - it is hooked up to its own battery and solar panel, it has been operating for 6 days - i think it;ll run indefinitely as long as there is sun to charge it!!

  • The price, it was on sale at Amazon.com and it works great!

  • Hello Carcedcucv. Thank you for the interesting video. When you say you are running it on your solar panel, does that mean it is running directly from your solar panel, via a charge controller, to your cooler, or does the solar panel power your batteries and those batteries then power the cooler? Thank you.

  • @oilspeculatorhater power goes to the batteries then to the cooler, it's all about how much battery storage you can hold, the more the better.

  • just some angle iron and some flat bar, with some heavy duty 150lb drawer slides, and a few nuts and bolts. The cost was around $40.00

  • i used this in a sailboat in the frig mode for eight months with a 100 watt solar and three battery house bank and it held up great even during a period of five days straight of rain. this is a great item to have also for a prepper in the event of long term power outage. the sundanzer is the best for solar, but the edgestar is half the price, so you can purchase more solar or batteries and still be a good value.

  • Thank you for your reply Carcedcucv.

  • What made you choose this fridge/freezer over all of the other 12V fridge/freezers that are out there?

    Great set-up!

  • @offgridchic Im thinking if that unit draws about 4 amps when it's running, figgure 40% of the day, then a 90watt or so system generating about 5 amps should do it. & 200 a/H deepcycle reserve. But solar power is adictive, next thing you know you want more amps for lights, radio, acc's. Amorphous panels can be cheaper and run well even with overcast but take up some room, where crystaline panels can be more sensitive to shading.

  • hello there my friend i just got one of this edgestar 43 qt freezer it is great this really can freeze all inside :p anyhow i have a big question and i apreciate all your help when you see the frigde front part just where is the open and close safe of the door you can see on the lower part a small fan my question is this fan works all the time? or just when is hot the engine ? my fridge is working just fine but i see the little fan like is dead :( i apreciate your help or give me a e mail

  • Great video. I have the 63qt and have been looking for a sliding rack with no luck. I thought about building one. Is your purchased or home build? If purchased, where? If home build, Can you go over your build for us. Size of slides, weight rating, etc.. Thanks. I would also like so info on your solar set up. I am planning to go solar for mine as well.
