space harrier vid 1- pc engine (1988)

one of the early games for the pc engine and released by NEC Avenue.

I actually got to .. i think Area 16 but I get serious sync problems with this game (much more than any other)so I've had to cut this vid short.

This is a pretty good conversion and makes great use of the pc engine's colour palette. My main gripe is the scorchy sampled speech and the checkered flooring is gone!!!

The sprites also seem a tad small compared to the arcade but long before there was the 32X and other versions that came after the Sega Saturn. I would say that the pc engine had the best version up till then..

@bisexualbuffthug You must be joking, while I do agree that the Master System has bigger, more detailed sprites your forgetting that they also had that nasty box of nothing around them. This version may be less pleasing to look at but it handles way better and is generally more fun to play.

@Ahle2 Sorry dude, But the Amiga version plays like absolute crap. This is the case with many Amiga ports. This may not look like much, But the controls and playability rivals that of the Arcades and better in some cases (objects don't linger on screen forever, so game play is faster).

This is a piece of shit!!!! The sega master system has larger sprites and looks better then this. I have seen better sega games on pc engine then this junk.

This version is my favorite because it runs and plays faster than the arcade version, has my favorite rendition of the music (love the PCE's sound chip!), and has the best graphics besides the 32X/Saturn/etc perfect-ports.
