Sounds great. However, what if credit card/identity is stolen? Do you want to have credit card deducting from checking then? Refunds usually take much longer for the companies to return, paperwork and all.

Couldn't agree more with using Charles Schwab Checking. They reimburse any ATM fees you get charged, and the account pays interest. What could be better?

Nice system, but I would like to add one thing. Passwords should NEVER, let me repeat NEVER stored in a WiKi that is accessible from the web. Use an encryption program like Keepass or Lastpass... There is no such thing as too much security when it comes to protecting your financial data.

Ramit. great video. Do you recommend services like mint.com etc?
I use mint.com and Yodlee.com's moneycenter to track my net worth and keep all my passwords intact. It also helps my track my spending by category and raises flags when I exceed my budgets.

Ramit, I have been learning from you for 3 years now. I am in college, and I sincerely appreciate your help. I've learned more from you and your videos, website, and book than most of my professors.

wow.. here in the Netherlands checks do not exist anymore, almost nobody uses a creditcard, everybody uses debit cards and online banking is considered to be the standard.. But I think I can translate your scheme into something that will work for me

I wrote a ton of info on credit cards in the first chapter of my book, which you can read for free on my site. Click on the link in the info box on this page, then go to 'Book' --> 'Excerpts' --> Chapter 1.
