Season 2 BTF-Ch 4

Chapter 4
*When Joe got home, Kevin was in the kitchen, cleaning up Joes mess from lunch, and he looked up because Joe hadnt slammed the door this time.*
K: No slam. [He said it as both an observation and a question.]
J: Yeah. I slammed the one at Melissas instead. [Kevin gave him a questioning look, and Joe continued.] She tired to break up with me for some other guy. And if I had listened to you in the first place, I wouldve seen it coming. So, Im sorry.
K: Its ok. I know she had you blinded, and we werent exactly the most supportive, so I could see why youd be mad.
J: Well next time remind me of this, & Ill listen.
K: Yeah maybe haha
[Nick walked in the door hearing all the laughter.]
N: Whoa, you guys are in the same room and not giving each other the evil eye. Quite an improvement
[Joe told Nick he had apologized to Kevin, then he told them the rest of the story.]
N: Dude, I cant believe the guy was just standing there like a dufus. But you had the last word so [He shrugged.]
J: Yeah haha So where were you?
N: At Alyses. She got in the movie.
K: Thats great! We should celebrate. Call Alyse and ask her when shes free, and well take her to dinner, my treat.

**the next day**
*with Alyse-at school*
[After homeroom Alyse met Deanna in the hall, as always. When they saw each other they squealed and hugged. Alyse had called Deanna after Nick left the day before and found out that Deanna had made the movie too. It was all they talked about all day.
By lunchtime, almost everyone had heard of their success. They were constantly getting visitors at their table congratulating them. After the first half of lunch, most people had settled down, and Alyse and Deanna could eat their lunch in piece. Since the crowd had cleared from around their table, Alyse could see straight across the café, and no matter how much she didnt want to see her, Alex was in her direct viewing area. At the moment she was shooting dagger eyes at Alyse.]
A: If looks could kill, I would have dropped dead from the stare Alex is giving me right now.
[Deanna looked up from chicken salad and quickly looked back at Alyse. She pretended to shiver.]
D: Who died and made her the ice queen? [They both giggled. Deanna looked over again.] And wheres Bret?
??: Maybe I could tell you, since Im right here.
[Alyse turned quickly out of surprise at hearing Brets voice, then she wished she hadnt. He was smiling shyly at her, and standing there awkwardly as if he didnt know what his next move should be. Deanna, who was still on good terms with him, pulled up a chair automatically, and he sat quick, as if afraid Alyse would pull his chair out from under him.]
B: Um..[He looked at Deanna for help. He obviously didnt know where to start.]
D: Why arent you over there with Alex? [She nodded towards the other end of the cafeteria.]
B: Oh, well, she didnt get a part in the movie. [He raised his eyebrows as if that explained it all.]
A: So? [She tried to sound as friendly as possible.]
B: So..I did.
[Deannas mouth dropped, then she threw her arms around his neck.]
D: Oh my god Bret! Why didnt you call me when you found out? Actually, nevermind that. What did you get?!
B: Im practically just an extra. I have like, two lines.
D: So what! Thats still amazing. Youll get more screen time then us. [She looked to Alyse for support.]
A: Definitley. [It was all she could manage.] So..what does that mean for you and Alex?
B: I guess she couldnt handle me being more successful than her, so she broke up with me.
D: No offense, but Im not kinda glad. Youre better off without her.
B: Yeah, I know. I wish it hadnt happened at all. Because, now, [He turned to look at Alyse] things are awkward between us. And I dont want them to be. So, can we start over?
A: Does that mean you dont think Im with all the Jonas Brothers? [She teased.]
B: No, not all. Just two of them.
[She shoved his arm, but she was glad they could joke like that. She hoped it meant he was over her.]

ok, so i'm super busy this weekend, w/homework and such, but i have another chapter written already, which i hope to post sunday. so look for it
