Although he was likely taking a swipe at former governor Sarah Palin with the reference, Paul Krugman on Sunday recommended "death panels" as a means of helping to balance the federal budget.

In a Roundtable discussion on ABC's "This Week," the New York Times columnist said of what recently came out of the President's deficit commission, "Some years down the pike, we're going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

  • I suspect that, like so many others of a particular political persuasion, Mr Krugman is subject to nefarious other-wordly influences. I see it all the time...

  • Careful what you ask for. You may indeed find that your ideas of what constitutes "the fittest" in advocating for "survival of the fittest" is wrong. In essence, you are advocating your own demise.

  • Death panels, eh Paul?! You first, you slimy, liberal-elitist little prick!!

I'm in therapy for my shyness.....

  • My degree is in economics.. Paul Krugman for ONCE just told the truth.. If you are a conservative/Libertarian, show everyone this video so that we can start getting government completely out of healthcare before it is too late.. (FYI, Paul Krugman and others like him are why are economy is in the tank..)

  • @imanyabob

Faggot, you're not in the marine corps

  • @imanyabob You kiss your boyfriend with that mouth?

  • obviously we need to distribute health care in some way. It's not unlimited. If we shift dollars away from the elderly and toward the young, some older people will die sooner than they would otherwise have. But if we keep spending as much as we are on care for the elderly, many young people will die who otherwise would have lived. Shifting care toward the young will not only save more lives, but it will save people who would otherwise lose many more future years of life if they died.

  • @imanyabob Fag.

  • @ all the dronetek fans. did you take your lithium today?

  • it's just a stupid case of accepting the terms or frames the other side has already given
