Episcopal Priest, the Rev. Matthew Moretz, went to Ravenna, Italy this summer. And here is a presentation of the impressive mosaic sequence at the Basilica of Saint Apollinare set to the music of Interpol's "Pioneer to the Falls." Enjoy! "Father Matthew Presents" is part of a regular semi-weekly YouTube series, a ministry of the Episcopal Church. For all videos, follow the link above to the "Father Matthew " account on YouTube

  • You have now become an occasion of sin for me, for I am now burning w/ envy towards you. I have long wanted to go to Ravenna & see these masterpieces of Byzantine art. LIke most things pertaining to the Byzantine Empire, the fact that the Ethnarc of Italy had his seat in Ravenna has been forgotten. I did get to St. Mark's in Venice, which is purdy impressive, if you think a ceiling the length of footvall field cover almost entirely in gold is impressive.

  • Would I be straying from the subject here :) as to mention, Brilliant Mosaics, it must have been a real pleasure to be able to see such great works of art, I hope to see them myself one day!

Thanks for sharing father, you are cool!

  • Arius, the bishop from Egypt, like many of the early Christians, believed in God as One.

  • "Apologies for the repetitive messages", they would not appear after downloading, so got they got replicated by accident.

  • According to the priests of the Holy Roman Catholic Church there is more to the belief in God than simply saying, "God is One."

Jews had no problem with the concept of "Unity of God."

The problem was with the Greeks and other pagans who had become quite used to the notion, that their 'gods' in some way resembled the creation around them.

  • We all know the Bible says 'God is One' and, "Thou shalt not have any 'gods' beside God.

Yet somehow today Christians are presenting a vast variety of terms and explanations on how God can actually be "One and Three at the same time."Cont..

The belief of God as a trinity gained ground during the apostasy of the Council of Nicaea 325AD under the influence of the Emperor Constantine. This falling away (apostasy) the Apostle Paul predicted would happen after his departure(death).Cont.

  • The belief of God as a trinity gained ground during the apostasy of the Council of Nicaea 325AD under the influence of the Emperor Constantine. This falling away (apostasy) the Apostle Paul predicted would happen after his departure(death). Belief in the trinity does not make one a christian, it is the belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus, who is the Christ (the annointed of God) that one becomes a believer, see 1 Corinthians 15."And as you can see hardly a throw away detail".

  • Pt2.

"Arius was a true faithful believer in the Jesus of the Apostolic witness and not of myth and was contending for the faith that was once delivered to the saints as it had originally been proclaimed in it's purity and uncorruptness by the Apostles.Cont..

  • "Deemed heretics by who,and by what authority?

Christians who believe in the unity of God as a singular being are not heretics, they are custodians and believers of the only true God John 17:3 And this is life eternal, "that they might know thee the only true God", and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.Cont..
