  • When you say Monk would not have endorsed it..do you mean 50 yrs ago? I thought Monk and Jazz/bebop were about innovation and change from the status quo. If Monk were alive today he'd be in his 90's. Do you think he would be playing Epistrophy the same way he did in the 1950's?

  • Could you play whole songs?

  • Dolphy's recorded version of this tune is positively incendiary as well.

  • 7"/11"/13" definitely. Maybe has a 17" gong drum in there too. What a master.

  • @Nosies199 looks more lyk a 8 10 12

  • is he playing on a 8"/10"/14 kit or 10"/12"14"?

  • This band is brilliant; Eric Harland is out of this world.

  • i love this alot!!! so inspiring

  • who the hell knows what monk would have or wouldn't have wanted? and who are you to say you know what he would have wanted, thats silly...

  • I'm gonna back you up here. I really respect what these guys do, 'cause it takes a lot of talent, skill, precision, and group dynamic. But I definitely agree that, musically speaking, it's a far cry from something Monk would have endorsed. And it is very showy.
