@PoppaBlue59 hydrodynamic ventilation is awesome also in some cases. I did some last week. It's magic to see all the smoke coming out by the corners too :D

cant wait till i start . . . im still in EMS , but hey its a foot in the door
-
If you have ever been inside when the roof team opens up a vent hole, it is like magic! Good job guys.

@eric2726 --Gotta agree with you Eric...these guys that are Monday morning quarterbacking these clips, clearly are inexperienced ambo drivers. First off the clip is 20 seconds long and only showing the roof portion...Just because its coming outta the ONE small gable does not mean it's venting enough to provide relief for the guys inside, or potential victims. If you get assigned to the roof, a good officer (and firefighters),will read the smoke and complete that job.

@eric2726 Yes vertical vent works, however this fire is self vented. You can see flames = box has been breached. There was no reason to send guys on the roof. It would've been better to take out the window and make an interior attack from the c side of the structure toward the a side on division 2. ( i believe this is two stories)

Clearly the fire has vented itself. They should have been off the roof ASAP. No need to stand back and watch while the fire is burning the support from under you.

THANK YOU! What happened to the days when guys actually had to use ladders and demonstrate proficiency at heights to be on this job? Nowadays its always the same BS - EMS. It makes me so sick to think what has happened to our profession. We are rife with safety nazis who have never made the last room on an ugly hallway push. Long live Tommy Truck (RIP Tom Brennan. For your sacrifices and teachings, you have bettered us all.)
R U F'ing serious? Dont you have some sheep to hump? Its called venting. It's used to support the engine and rescue companies operating inside. I wish youtube would put a filter on dumbasses.

finally an intelligent comment. To answer your question, it is obvious most people on here really haven't been in a good house fire before. And if they have they must have only been in ones that weren't properly ventilated. Whether it scares you or not verticle ventilation is still an important part of firefighting. These days guys are looking for every excuse in the book to get out of doing it. It's blatent inexperience. THIS FIRE IS NOT SELF VENTED. GOOD JOB!
