Life's What You Make It (A JB story) chapter 12 part 2

Joe: OMG! If she's a zombie, won't she kill us then?
Kevin: No stupid! *hits Joe's head*
Joe: No need for violence.
Nick: *to Dave* That is terrible. What happened to her. *to his brothers* We have to help her, don't we? We can do it. We have to make her open up somehow.
Kevin: Yeah, we should. But would she even react to us? If yes, then how?
Joe: *impatiently* When are we going to be there, David?
Dave: Not much longer. I think about 10 minutes.
During those 10 minutes, the brothers discussed between each other how to open her up.
Dave: You know guys, she has a two month break from school, too. So you guys can be together all the time. And we have rooms for all of you guys. Separate.
The boys: Yey! Is that your house? *they point to the big house, with huge fences in front of them*
Dave: Yes, that's it. Welcome!
They drove through the gates and into the garage. Boys took their bags and Dave showed them their rooms. They put their bags in and then went looking for Getlin. She was in the kitchen.
Dave: Hi EJ! I'm back from my little trip. Everything OK? And what's that I smell.
Getlin: *still not noticing the guests and not looking up from the stove* Hi Dave. Everything is OK. And what you are smelling is [insert some random food, because I have no idea ;P].
Dave: My favorite. EJ, I gave a surprise for you. We have guests with us for the next two months.
Getlin: *still not looking up* Who.
Then the boys attacked Getlin and started shouting: "Getlin! It's so good to see you!" And then Joe and Kevin and Nick hugged one by one Getlin. She didn't do anything. She didn't even move. All she said to Dave was: "Why?" After that she started cooking again. The boys looked at each other and shrugged. Then they sat at the table, waiting for Getlin to say something. But she didn't.
Dave: And please don't call her Getlin, she doesn't respond to that anymore for some reason. You HAVE TO call her EJ.
The boys nodded. They understood what was asked and started talking after Getlin brought the dinner out and they started eating.
Nick: ...
