Commercial skipping works well for some channels and shows and not others. Even after almost 2 years of tinkering, the system is only about 95% stable and reliable. Servers hang for no apparent reason and have to be rebooted. My family puts up with SageTV, and like it when it works, but are frustrated by it failing more than once a week.

This is what SageTV CAN do, but SageTV is still for the enthusiast/tinkerer/do-it-yourselfer with lots of computer skills and lots of time and money to throw at it. There is email-only support from the company and only marginally better support from an online users group.
