  • What is Chad?

  • @oknarbtal It seems more like art is subjective and *everyone* is entitled to judge. What's the point in art other than for people to experience and react to it?

  • When one person tells another person "this is art", it becomes art. There is good art and bad art. Every person is a critic. Every person is an artist. This has made the word "art" and "artist" pretty meaningless. The question, "is it art?" is like asking, "what does purple taste like to you?"

This work could be called "the artists are present", Marina Abramovic and whomever she is sitting in front of. What do you guys think?

  • @thealchemist1111 I don't think that's what Abramovic is getting at here. She's making a statement about the STATIC nature of portraits (mostly photos but also realistic paintings). To look at a portrait of a woman sitting in chair for a few minutes is all well enough, but to state at her in person while she politely doesn't move is quite creepy. It kind of makes you wonder whether there should be a social more for looking at portraits.

  • This vid is popular on Zagreb

  • This video went viral on Chad

  • "I do this every day in my classroom." No, you don't, and it's arrogant and rude to claim that you do. This is performance art. Marina Abramovic is probably the most famous performance artist, and rightfully so. There is a lesson to be learned behind this artwork. Something so simple is so meaningful. When have you made that kind of connection with someone? You can empathize and understand so much through just eye contact. I wish I could experience this. Respect, please.

  • I think that such a woman becomes a lesbian

  • @stikitape214 Just to clarify: she would do this seven hours a day for ten weeks; however for four of those weeks; she sat for ten hours because the museum stayed open longer. During these hours she did not move, eat, drink, or use the bathroom. During the night, she would wake up every 45 minutes to hydrate.

  • @MangaEngel Euhm, what is your problem?
