This video shows you how to make a player in a platform game jump and move very easily.
This technique i made all on my own and did not steel or copyright it.
Someone may have used this before, but if they did, i do not know of it.

ya sorry for the kirby and spider man thing, simple variables can fix that problem. I'll leave that to you guys as a small challenge. I'm not into game maker any more, or i would make a tutorial video on how to fix that problem.
