@megatroid47 The problem with her freezing up on ridely is that it's the SECOND TO LAST Metroid game chronologically. She's been through so much shit and fought ridely so many times, it just doesn't make sense at that point. It would, however, make perfect sense in this game since this is supposedly the FIRST time she fights him. The only reason she froze up in that game was because team ninja LOVES their traumatic female leads.

@Sukuraidogai Actually Team Ninja had no say in the storyline of Other M, Yoshio Sakamoto was entirely responsible for how terrible Samus was in that game. To quote him verbatim, his interpretation of Samus is "Samus is a woman who is poor at coping with life's problems."

Other M is so bad out of nowhere after almost every other metroid game was great so I understand that everyone blames the new guys, but Sakamoto is responsible for every single thing people hated about the game.

Poor Ridley. I usually like fighting him first in Zero Mission, when you have a lot less resources at your disposal (hell, in my playthrough right now, I got to his lair, and beat him without even the varia suit!), though it does make the fight with Kraid anti-climactic. Fighting him in a 15%-or-less run is pretty tense too, since two hits and you're dead, and if you don't time it right, you're boned.

But usually, it's as easy as this, ha ha.

Gotta love sequence-breaking though!

@Sukuraidogai Apparently you havent read the Metroid E Manga which was released long before Metroid Other M and according to Yoshai Sakamoto is very much canon, Samus Aran acted just like she did in Metroid Other M.

@MrMetroid1998 Being in charge doesn't mean all the game's decisions are yours. It was said in interviews that he collaborated with Team Ninja with all aspects of the game, and frankly Samus's character in this game has TEAM NINJA in all caps written all over the place.
