A recycled cellphone LCD and a Texas Instruments MSP430F2012 target board make this Babylonian clock. It was quite a challenge to get the base-60 (sexagesimal) cuneiform font into a 2Kbyte microcontroller!

  • Greated! i ´m learning akkadian.. this watch is amazing. How can I get one of that? make one with flash or to Ipad.

    contratulations, good work

  • The first frame for this video shows 10:12:10. There are 3 base-60 digits onscreen. There is no Babylonian digit for 0, only 1-59; we use a blank space for zero. Looking at the first frame, the first digit is "10" (the "A" on its side=10), the second digit is "12" (one "A" + two vertical strokes = 12) and the last digit is 10 again.

Inside each digit, the "A"s count tens - from 0 to 5. The vertical strokes count ones, from 0 to 9. It's easiest to understand if you watch the last digit.

  • Sorry I meant 01:12

  • Time displayed is 02:12 isn't it?

  • Awesome!

  • cool
