I was raised as Catholic, now I'm agnostic. I think that the things that drove me out of the church in first place were those that you say. I don't believe in any kind of god, but I really liked your words, I hope all believers were like you. Believing is about what you believe, not which church you attend. I don't think that if there is a god, he's gonna be interested in you spending time in a building hearing the same story over and over. For me, it's more important what you do to help others
Young people are not only walking away from church, they are abandoning the Christian belief itself. Mono-theism is gradually becoming a think of the past. Mainly because of the information age, skepticism and atheism are having a much greater appeal to young minds than any religion. Christianity is declining world wide and I don't just mean church attendance.
That said, however, restored people are not perfect people. We do need to be part of a community of believers, who will pray for one another, encourage one another, and edify one another as the Day of the Lord draws near.

God instructs us to gather together. The "church" does not refer to a building with the people in it but rather God's people all across the world.
