http://budurl.com/CoolestSiteEver - The Carolina Panthers traded up to the 89th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and selected Appalachian State QB, Armanti Edwards.

With the selection of Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen and incumbent starter Matt Moore already on the roster, Edwards will not be a quarterback on the Panthers. He will most likely take snaps in the Wildcat formation, but he is expected to be converted to a wide receiver in the NFL.

Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney said, "Armanti is a projection, but the versatility he brings - he is an athlete, a football player and plays with intensity and toughness."

Edwards was a four-year starter at Appalachian State and led his team to two national titles at the Football Championship Subdivision level as a QB. He is undersized at 5-11, 187 lbs, but he has blazing 4.2 speed. He has had some durability issues in the past and will need to bulk up to play in the NFL.

Hurney confirmed that he will be primarily a WR in Carolina. Edwards will need some time to learn how to run routes and to control his speed to give defenders different looks as he runs his routes. The Panthers plan to give him that time to learn. - http://budurl.com/CoolestSiteEver

  • perfect song for edwards

  • Check out Armanti on youtube "Route Tree Session with trainer Gari Scott"

  • I waz a big armanti fan when he played 4 app state nd I think the panthers wasted money on him cuz he's not ready for pro....(he hardly played last season)

  • I believe this season will be AE's coming out party with Cam busting it loose. Day 1 at training camp already had AE making huge catches. Are you ready for some football!?

  • Its a shame seeing all the optimism of the Panthers fans for 2010 and then they ended up with the number 1 pick.

  • Armanti Edwards was considered a prospect, and to study. No rookie really has NFL experience. Plus last season, regardless of the Panthers record, they couldn't utilize him properly. To all of you newbies out there...it's not "no dude he's a wide receiver" or whatever you call him. He can play multiple positions. He doesn't have to be tied down to one position like Madden NFL videogames. When football is being played in reality, Armanti Edwards can play special teams, qb, wr, rb. He's versatile.

  • @tittyj2020 Edwards didn't play (and this is a fact) because John Fox was doing it out of spite towards the owners.

John Fox did everything this season out of spite. Fox didn't want Edwards, but management said to get him, and Fox just didn't play him. I guarantee we see more Edwards in 2011 if we have football, he'll be in wildcat and he'll be badass.

  • I remember after the draft this year I told Panther fans on the draft site/chat that they made a big mistake trading a 2011 2nd round pick for a 3rd this year...to draft Armanti Edwards (who doesn't even play) They all told me hat it was a great move. Now what do you Panther fans have to say after you have to give up the 33rd pick in the draft for that bum Edwards? Suck on that one while you watch the draft this year!

  • nah his gonna be a WR
